A Dangerous Encounter

A Dangerous Encounter
Opposing assignments
Nanao learns that Tangerine and Lemon are searching for the case he stole. He approaches them hoping they share a client and can cooperate, but Lemon recognizes him and attacks.
Their fight proves that Nanao can hold his own, but it also convinces the pair that he may be responsible for their failures and Little Minegishi’s death.
A Tactical Escape

A Tactical Escape
Distractions and improvisation
Nanao leaves Lemon unconscious and uses a watch alarm, an umbrella, a tripwire, a wig, and the help of two passengers to complicate Tangerine’s search. The improvised tactics buy him time but do not resolve the underlying conflict.
He later contacts Tangerine and proposes a temporary ceasefire, arguing that Minegishi may be manipulating both sides. Suspicion remains stronger than trust, but immediate violence pauses.
Cooperation at Sendai

Cooperation at Sendai
Necessity without trust
Nanao and Tangerine make a hurried attempt to mislead Minegishi’s men with a false case and a disguised passenger. The lie fails, but it shows how much they need each other to manage the forces converging on the train.
Tangerine then keeps Nanao aboard at gunpoint. Their cooperation remains conditional, shaped by fear of Minegishi rather than confidence in one another.
